How to put this without sounding trite and saccharine…
Our customers come under the “Friends” category because we have been invited to their dinner parties, book launches, Persian feasts, weddings of daughters, Christmas drinks, wakes, winter bonfires, countless birthday drinks, one Fijian wedding and one heritage potato-buying sojourn (we chose ‘Nicola’).
We didn’t imagine making so many genuine friends starting a business in a tourist village, but that’s indeed what we’ve done, and our lives have since become wonderfully intertwined with yours.
Thank you all! Might need a sit down and a cup of tea!
Dear friends at Somerled, Many thanks for the occasion last Sunday. I thoroughly enjoyed trying the wines comparatively and the nibbles and snacks were very tasty, very generous and filling. I enjoyed the good-humoured and relaxed information that we received. Everyone is very friendly and happy. You all make your guests feel as welcome as family. – Chris Fryer
We can’t thank you enough for the special care and attention to detail that you took yesterday to ensure that Mike’s celebration was just perfect. Knowing that you had everything under control meant that we could both be relaxed and enjoy the occasion with our guests. Of course the excellent wines, the delicious food and Rob’s engaging commentary along with your flexibility all contributed to this very memorable day. Please pass on our sincere appreciation to all involved. – Linda Dumbleton
Thanks for the wonderful day on Saturday. The wine, food and the company were all superb. – Glen Sloan
Thought I would share a few photos from the Somerled wine tasting we undertook at our house, with close friends of ours. So the tasting was of the 2012,13 and 14 Shiraz…..and to make it a little more fun, we covered the bottles to ensure no one was influenced by the vintage, and mixed and remixed the order, so even I did not know which was which…….so in essence blind tastings…We paired the wines with appropriate cheese, and then the tasting began. Results…my partner Len loved wine 1 the best, however the remaining three of us, selected wine 2 as our favourite….when we did the big reveal…it was interesting to note, wine 1 was 2012, wine 2 was 2013 and wine 3 was 2014 (despite us mixing the order to ensure a level of mystery). We then went through the wine notes, which you provided at the time. Needless to say we all loved the wines and a great afternoon was had by all.– Johnathon Dickson
My brother is the biggest red wine snob… that’s why I buy his wine here! – Sheridan Priestly
Somerled is always my first stop in Hahndorf. I have been a member of their jockey club for several years now and always look forward to drinking their wines, which I do on a regular basis. Rob Moody, the winemaker, is unassuming and makes exceptional wines. I was going to pick a favourite but realised there are too many! The cellar door is a friendly and welcoming place, and I feel like part of the family – due more to the welcome I receive from the family and the staff, and not because I drink so much of their wine. I look forward to many more visits and my next packs of wine! – via Trip Advisor
