Annual Jockey Club Picnic Races Breakfast 2012
Again, like last year, what a lovely, sunny start to Easter weekend we had!
To celebrate the ‘legend’ of Somerled, who raced in the Oakbank Picnic Races in 1908 and won, we held a 2-course breakfast in our annual tradition, with free-flow Sparkling Cabernet. Somerled the racehorse was ridden by Rob’s grandfather.
It was a sell-out this year but we will consider putting on a 2nd Jockey Club Breakfast on Easter Monday next year!
Tables were set with Persian scoggle (featuring turkish delight, lime-scented pistachios, rose petals and milk chocolate eggs), local Woodbake breadsticks with hunks of butter and little jars of Beerenberg rose petal jam:
Crafers Gourmet Deli produced our favourite Egg & Bacon Picnic Pies, and Heather showed off her dark chocolate pav whipped up with raspberry cream:
After breakfast, Rob introduced the Jockey Club Members to our brand new Somerled Reserve Pinot Noir, which will be available to Club Members later in the year, followed by the public. We can’t wait.
It was a particularly jolly morning, which extended to a lovely day at the racetrack for those who took the shuttle!
Thank you to everybody who joined us, and look forward to doing it all again next year!
