Congregate at Somerled, where we’ll introduce you to our Sparkling and send you two minutes down the road to Rilka’s Kitchen - wine in hand! The flamboyant Rilka herself will greet you at the door. Learn how to make the world’s most beautiful parmesan choux pastries – which are, unbelievably, gluten free and a perfect CHRISTMAS canape!

2-hr SHIRAZ BLENDING SCHOOL

Groups of 6 or more: $95pp

Rob was in charge of the ferments for the 1971 Grange – voted the best wine in the world in the 1970s. You may as well learn from the best!

Start with a glass of Somerled Sparkling and matching nibbles. We’ll follow straight up with a healthy pour of our Somerled Shiraz. How well can you emulate it? After a chat about how Rob makes this wine – “the closest thing to Grange you’ll ever get” (The Advertiser) – and about how Rob made the reds in the old Penfolds days, he’ll go into a bit more detail about maturation and barrel age – the key to making a great red wine.

Guests will be split into small groups, and invited to blend their own shiraz from our Somerled Shiraz barrels, all of which show markedly different barrel characteristics. What’s Rob’s secret blend? The results from each group will be vastly different no doubt, and a light competition will decide who the winning group is!

Accompanied by abundant, sumptuous Spanish platters – and fierce competition!
